Atlas of American History
Published in Hardcover by Charles Scribners Sons/Reference (June, 1992)
Average review score:

Outstanding choice for teaching American historyThis is ABSOLUTELY a book no history teacher should be without. It is filled with black line maps of a wide variety of periods in American history. Can't find "Jackson Hole," or, "Lundy's Lane? You will find it here. I taught for 35 years and for the last 15 this book was my right hand!

The Atlas of Breeding Birds of Michigan
Published in Hardcover by Michigan State Univ Pr (December, 1991)
Average review score:

Best bird book for MichiganThis is an excellent bird book. It itemizes observed breeding evidence of birds by township. It is very detailed and very well done. Excellent descriptions of each species. I also liked the intro. It provides bird habitat information such forest, wet lands, fields. Good history of the changes in bird species over time. Only weakness- it was written in 1991. In the past decade, several birds have expanded their territory (i.e. turkeys and bald eagles). If you live in Michigan and watch birds, this is the book to buy.
This is a coffee table size book. It is a little large to take in the field. Book uses drawings not photographics. The drawings are well done be do not replace color photos.

Baby Bible: Stories About Jesus
Published in Hardcover by Chariot Family Pub (September, 1996)
Average review score:

Excellent work! This is an outstanding and insightful work. The author appears to understand that pre-schoolers do not appreciate a lot of detailed story telling. The illustrator's contribution is inspiring. The activity portion is scripted to enhance concept memorization. The prayers are encouraging and simple. In a word, the book is so exciting that daily study is not a problem. My four-year old granddaughter loves the book.

The Bargain Hunter's Handbook: How to Buy Just About Anything for Next to Nothing
Published in Paperback by Career Press (July, 1999)
Average review score:

A Real BargainI love bargains, and I've had pretty good luck bargain hunting in the past, so I wasn't sure I'd learn anything new from this book. Happily, I was wrong! The Bargain Hunter's Handbook starts out with the 12 Secrets of the Bargain-Seeker. They're fairly common sense tips, but it never hurts to have a reminder. And within the 12 Secrets, they give some small examples of how to use the tips. The rest of the book is dedicated to big examples in specific areas, like shopping for cars, homes, and medical care (that was a new one on me), or just plain shopping. One of my favorite parts are the sidebars -- called "The Bargain Hunters Journal." They're quick snappy examples of successful bargain hunting, and easy to find, since they're along the outside edge of the right-hand pages. The examples illustrate how the tips can work for you, and, if you're anything like me, they'll get your mind working overtime on where and how you can try out the Bargain-Seekers Secrets. I consider myself a pretty savvy shopper, but if I've got a high school degree in Bargain Hunting, authors Rob and Terry Adams have Ph.Ds. However, with The Bargain Hunter Handbook in tow, I'm on my way to graduation.. and to the mall.
